In a tangible sign of renewed confidence in the car market, today's Volkswagen Group Australia's (VGA) dealer auction had a 100% clearance rate. 

All 82 vehicles, which covered the gamut of vehicles sold by VGA from small city hatchbacks to the largest commercial van, were snapped up by dealers at the first such event in two months.

Volkswagen Group Australia is this country's biggest European auto importer. The Sydney-based company includes Volkswagen's passenger car range, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and ŠKODA.

Run through Pickles Auctions, 34 dealers bid on the array of company and display vehicles. The vehicles are sold on to the public as Certified Pre-owned Cars, subject to a 114 point inspection by VGA.

"The clearance rate and the vigorously competitive bidding are highly encouraging," said Ben Wilks, Volkswagen's General Manager of Passenger Vehicle Sales.

In terms of new vehicles, VGA brands are in the midst of a mass roll out.

Having last month introduced its first compact SUV, the T-Cross, Volkswagen this week confirmed the pinnacle of its line-up, the Touareg V8. By the time of its arrival in quarter four, Volkswagen's other compact SUV, the T-Roc, will be in showrooms.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has just released the limited edition Amarok 580 S. Later this year it will introduce the new Transporter range.

Having debuted its Kodiaq RS performance SUV in March, ŠKODA will shortly introduce the Karoq medium SUV range, Scala hatchback and Kamiq compact SUV.        

"In terms of new cars, dealers are taking orders both directly and, increasingly, via our enhanced online ordering capability," Mr Wilks said.

ŠKODA Australia Director Michael Irmer said the brand has taken more customer orders in the last week for new cars than during the corresponding seven days last year.
