LEADING independent motor vehicle importer Performax International has appointed highly-experienced accountancy professional Sandy Wheeler to a new position as Commercial Manager.

Heading the Administration and Parts Departments at Performax International, Ms Wheeler's role will be aimed at positioning the Queensland-based company for future growth and investment.

This will involve refining supplier agreements and relationships, improving warehouse and logistics management and formalising the governance structure.

Performax International General Manager Glenn Soper said Ms Wheeler's appointment was an important step in the company's development.

"Essentially, Sandy's role will be to tune the structure and operations of Performax International so we are able to effectively pursue our ambition to double the size of the business by 2015," he said.

"She brings excellent experience and is part of our program of adding specific expertise to our management team."

Ms Wheeler has more than 17 years' commercial experience in leading chartered accounting firms and corporate boardrooms.

At Arthur Andersen she had a key role in the liquidation of Ansett Airlines and later as a senior manager with Ernst & Young led investigations on corrupt practices in procurement and logistics.

With accounting and criminal tertiary educational backgrounds and professional qualification as a Chartered Accountant and membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ms Wheeler was President of the Queensland Chapter of the Australian Institute of Professional Investigators (AIPI).

More recently she has been commercial manager of procurement, contracts and financial teams on major capital coal and energy projects.
