Bridgestone takes its Supercat range off-road

The highly popular Supercat tyre range is now more versatile than ever with the launch of the Supercat All Terrain (A/T).

Developed by Bridgestone specifically for the Australian and New Zealand markets, with extensive input from the leading tyre company's local Technical Field Services teams, the Supercat A/T has been introduced as a value-for-money but capable tyre for 4x4s and SUVs five or more years old.

The introduction of the All Terrain product fills a void in the Supercat range, complementing the existing passenger and Highway Terrain offerings.

According to Bridgestone Australia and New Zealand Managing Director, Stephen Roche, the Supercat A/T is an ideal all-rounder.

"We understand that not all 4x4 and SUV owners are looking to fit premium off-road tyres, especially as vehicles age. That's why Bridgestone has developed an All Terrain option in the Supercat range." Mr Roche said.

"The Supercat A/T is ideal for those with slightly older vehicles that are still used for a bit of off-roading and 4x4ing. It's an affordable, but capable and versatile tyre that meets the ever increasing demand for 4x4 tyres.

"Over the past five years, SUVs and 4x4 utes have become much more prevalent in the market, increasing penetration by nearly 20 per cent since 2014 in Australia, and that was after the 10 per cent rise in the five years prior."

Supercat A/T is available in 13 sizes ranging from 16 to 18 inches, suitable to fit a range of different makes and models including Nissan Patrol and Navara, Toyota Hilux, Prado and Landcruiser, Holden Rodeo and Colorado, and Mitsubishi Pajero.

All sizes in the Supercat A/T range are light truck specification to ensure it is a versatile and durable product with load rating from 1030kg (109 index), making it suitable for towing, fully laden utes, off-road workhorses or camper trailers.

Safety was not compromised in the development of the tyre, with Supercat A/T performing strongly in wet handling and braking. With up to 10.5mm of tread, the tyre also achieves good wear life, as well as strong results in cut and chip resistance tests.
