Newcastle, 16 November, 2017 – The dynamic flagship of the all-new Audi Q2
range has landed in Australia, packing a powerful 2.0 TFSI engine, quattro drive
and a high level of standard features from $48,500*.
The contemporary design of the new Audi Q2 turned heads when it first arrived in
February. Its dynamic stance is now complemented by a new 2.0 TFSI engine that
channels power to all four wheels via the legendary Audi quattro drive system.
The highly efficient 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivers 140kW and
320Nm. This results in agile performance, taking just 6.5 seconds to reach 100
km/h from rest, while also returning 6.5 litres per 100km in fuel consumption.
The excellent power, torque and fuel consumption characteristics of the new engine
is the result of an innovative combustion method. It allows shorter compression and
longer expansion phases, which delivers maximum economy under partial throttle
load, by far the most common mode of operation.
The shortened compression phase means the engine only has to compress as much
fuel as a 1.4 TFSI. Whereas in the expansion phase, it profits from a higher
compression ratio to fully utilises its two litres of displacement.
In order for the fuel-air mixture to swirl sufficiently in the shorter intake time, the
combustion chambers, piston recesses, intake ducts and turbocharging of the new
2.0 TFSI are specially adapted to the new combustion method. Under higher loads, the Audi valvelift system opens the intake valves later, resulting in a higher charge,
which ensures good power and torque delivery.
The Q2 is equipped with progressive steering, which affords agile handling at speed
and easy maneuvering at parking speeds. Together with the quattro all-wheel drive
drivetrain, the lightweight McPherson front- and four-link rear-suspension, dynamic
handling is assured.
The Q2 is also equipped with an ESC Offroad mode and, with its 147mm of ground
clearance, is capable of venturing off the tarmac when required.
The all-new Q2 has been awarded a five-star Euro NCAP and ANCAP safety rating,
and comes equipped with valuable driver assistance features. The Audi pre sense city
(AEB) system recognises critical situations with other vehicles, as well as
pedestrians crossing in front of the vehicle, while driving at speeds of up to 65
km/h. If necessary, Audi pre sense city can initiate hard braking – to a standstill – at
low speeds.
In addition, the $990 Assistance package features an extensive range of driver
support systems like a higher level of AEB functionality (up to 200 km/h), active
lane assist, side assist, Adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go, Traffic jam assist,
high beam assist and park assist just to name a few.
Befitting the halo model in the all-new Audi Q2 range, the 2.0 TFSI quattro sport is equipped with a generous array of standard features including LED headlights (with
dynamic rear indicators), MMI Navigation, bluetooth and smartphone interface,
Audi Connect, voice control and parking system plus with rear view camera. An
electric tailgate, sport seats, automatic air-conditioning with dual-zone climate
control, leather-appointed seats, auto-dimming interior mirror, a contrasting Cpillar
blade and 18-inch alloy wheels round out the key highlights. The progressive
Audi virtual cockpit is available as an option.
The Q2 also fulfills fundamental expectations of an SUV, with a seating position
that affords excellent visibility, and a large luggage compartment with 355 litres of
capacity (or up to 1,050 litres of capacity with rear seats folded down).
The Audi Q2 is as individual as its drivers – inside and out. Further equipment
packages, exterior colours and expressive interior trim colours and elements are
available, as well as LED interior lighting packages which allow plenty of creative
space for personal configuration.
The complete all-new Audi Q2 line-up is on-sale now.
