- Brand new 1.2 litre engine offers exceptional entry point into range
- Two additional doors at no extra cost
Audi Australia has launched its five door A1 model range with a brand new 1.2 litre engine, offering exceptional value for entry into the premium Audi range.
Starting from just $26,500 (MLP), the all new Audi A1 Sportback 1.2 TFSI Attraction offers 63 kW of power, 160 Nm of torque, a sporty manual transmission and excellent fuel economy, plus the versatility of five doors.
The new A1 Sportback range also offers customers the choice of a frugal 1.6 TDI engine with 66 kW and consumption of just 3.8 l/100km for the manual variant, or a 1.4 TFSI petrol engine with 90 kW and 200 Nm of torque with still-low consumption of just 5.4 l/100km.
The 1.4 TFSI 'Sport' engine rounds out the A1 Sportback range, offering a punchy 136 kW and 250 Nm of torque with a 0 – 100 km/h sprint time of 7.0 seconds. Consumption remains below 6.0 l/100km.
All A1 Sportback models are entering the market at the same basic price point of the three door variants, making this latest model exceptional value for customers wanting to join the steadily-growing Audi family.
The success of the A1 3-door model in Australia is a good indication of the potential for the Sportback model, says Audi's Managing Director, Uwe Hagen.
"The A1 has introduced an entirely new group of customers to the Audi brand, and we're currently in the lead in the segment after 18 months of sales. The progressive new Sportback variant is expected to find favour with Australian buyers thanks to the versatility of easy access to the rear seats as an additional feature of a great compact premium vehicle," Mr Hagen said.
"The Audi A1 range represents important volume potential for Audi in Australia," he added.
The new A1 Sportback is characterised by the progressive design that is inherent to the Audi range. It's an urban vehicle with a dynamic heart and a strong appeal to buyers looking for premium DNA in a compact package. It clearly carries the genes of its larger siblings, along with assistance systems and options from the luxury class, proving that a small car needn't mean a compromise on quality or comfort. Thanks to two additional doors and a handy luggage space of up to 920 litres with rear seats folded down, The A1 Sportback is well-suited to everyday driving.
The range is also economical. Every model offers fuel consumption of below 6.0 litres/100km, with Start/Stop technology as standard across virtually every variant. It is also extremely safe thanks to a rigid bodyshell, six full sized airbags and ESP with cross-axle locking system, resulting in a 5-star EURO NCAP safety rating.
Two trim levels are available – Attraction for versatility and Ambition for comfort. All models feature a 6.5-inch folding screen, Bluetooth interface and music streaming capabilities, cruise control, Concert radio with 8 speakers, Driver Information System, dynamic suspension, a light and rain sensor and a multi-function leather sports steering wheel.
The A1 Sportback is available in 12 exterior paint colours, 3 contrasting roof dome options, contrasting air vents and of course Audi exclusive and Audi exclusive line customisation packages.
The Audi A1 Sportback will appeal to young urban professionals, young families and as a second vehicle for the family.
