American Honda Motor Company has announced that the stellar 2008
CRF450R and CRF250R motocross machines have both won Bike of the
Year accolades from Transworld Motocross magazine.
These achievements, earned in head-to-head comparison tests
against the other competitors, attest to the outstanding quality of
Honda's CRF race bikes.
Even though the Honda CRF250R has won the Transworld
Motocross Bike of the Year honors every year since its
introduction in 2004, the TWMX editors gained newfound
appreciation for the 2008 model.
"This year, the CRF250R boasts several significant changes, all
of which add up to a huge difference out on the track," they wrote
in the January 2008 issue. "...the CRF250R is blessed with the best
overall handling characteristics it's ever had," and "...to be
honest, the changes that wowed us the most were those done to the
motor."
As revealed in the February 2008 issue, the CRF450R, which won
the Transworld Motocross Bike of the Year honors for the
second consecutive year, also wowed the editors with its exclusive
HPSD Honda Progressive Steering Damper equipped chassis: "...we're
convinced that this is an advantage that will help keep the Honda
atop shootouts until the others catch up."
They also opined, "...the Honda's powerband has no flaws.
Bottom-end, mid-range, top-end-the CRF450R has it all, and delivers
it in a heart-pounding, pulse-racing fashion."
As far as needed improvements and conclusions, we'll simply
quote the editors once again: "What can Honda do to stay on top of
the 450cc four-stroke field? To be honest, we can't think of a
thing. Yes, it's that good..."
