12 February 2009 - For the fifth year running, Honda's
CRF450R has won DIRT ACTION Magazine's (DA) motocross shoot out, a
competition that squarely pits the best of the best against each
other in equitable, yet supremely tough riding conditions.
The Open class is considered hard-hitting with most machines
fitting into the category of being the 'ultimate' in dirt bike
riding.
DA's four judges including pro rider Nathan Crawford, ex pro
Scott Bishop, expert Ben Foster and intermediate rider Johnny
McLean put each of the four models tested through their paces, and
agreed unanimously that the Honda once again delivered the
goods.
According to DA, the 2009 CRF450R possesses all the qualities a
rider demands from a bike: instant response, equal parts of
bottom-end, mid-range and top-end power, a lightweight feel, good
handling, solid suspension, and the feel of excitement and
satisfaction when you ride it.
In particular, the latest release modifications impressing the
judges include the bike's new and improved ergonomics, new Kayaba
suspension offering light and easy turning, usable power delivered
via the EFI engine and lightest weight in its class (only 108 kg
fuelled).
All of the bodywork has also been completely redesigned on the
CRF450R and includes a new smart looking fuel tank, seat, fenders,
radiator shrouds and side plates all mounted on a lighter
frame.
In summary, Bishop says, "the Honda is the most versatile and
rideable of the bikes and with all its new gadgetry and technology,
there's plenty of potential left in it."
Anyone considering purchasing a CRF450R will want to drop into
their dealer soon to take advantage of a tool box kit giveaway
valued at $799.
The kit includes a 9 draw tool box, T-Bar set and rack,
aluminium ramp, tie wire pliers, tyre levers, double sided exhaust
bung and an allen key set. The promotion is available on Honda's
complete range of motocross bikes (as well as other selected off
road models) and runs between 11 February and 30 April 2009
