In March, Todd Waters left Australia; set to compete in the AMA MX Nationals with support from Honda America, Honda Australia and supporting partners.

The far North Queenslander was focused on his American adventure and had been testing hard since his arrival in the US.

"I spoke to Yarrive and Honda in Australia and told them my plans about wanting to compete in the AMA. Following some testing in Australia and races in New Zealand, I landed in America and went straight to the test track. There have been so many people behind me, with whom I would not have been able to do all of this," said Waters

"I can't thank Honda Australia and Honda America enough for all of their support,"" Waters added.

However, plans quickly changed for Waters after receiving an offer from Team HRC to come and compete in Europe.

Glyn Griffiths; Brand and Motorsports manager for Honda Australia, fully supports Waters decision to divert his plans; "Everyone came together to make this happen, ultimately it wouldn't have happened if Team HRC didn't reach out, we were completely supportive of this move and appreciate the opportunity for Todd," said Griffiths.

Waters will compete aboard the Honda CRF450RW alongside full-time HRC rider Tim Gajser, starting in Lativa on the 12-13th of May.

After the news came through, excitement in the Waters camp was hard to contain; "I can't believe this has all happened.  Firstly getting to test with Honda America and then getting a contract to compete with TEAM HRC in the MXGP… it's amazing! So many people have worked hard to make this happen and I can't thank Honda Australia and Penrite Honda enough for their continued support.  I can't wait to line up in Latvia.  The Honda CRF450RW is like nothing I have ridden before," Waters said.

Penrite Honda director Yarrive Konsky is very pleased with the outcome and opportunity to see a young Australian rider take to the world stage.

"When we got news from Team HRC we encouraged Todd to change his plans and chase one of his dreams. This is the best opportunity for Todd to prove himself.  We will continue to support him and wish him and the team all of the best," said Konsky.
