25 November 2013 - Injecting a massive dose of
adrenaline and attitude into Honda's new custom cruiser, Honda
presents the low, mean and muscular Goldwing F6C. Dynamic when
required and chilled-out when not, Honda's new Goldwing F6C makes a
dramatic statement thanks to well-controlled suspension, dual
four-piston calliper front brakes and ergonomic riding
position.
Scheduled to arrive in Australia in the second quarter of 2014,
the Goldwing F6C will be impossible to ignore. This new variation
of Honda's Goldwing is around 70kg lighter but boasts the same
1,800cc fuel-injected six-cylinder engine that delivers a flood of
torque with a satisfying, spine-tingling snarl thanks to the twin
exhaust system.
Employing the bare minimum of chassis needed to house the F6C's
mighty engine, the chassis is constructed from lightweight
multi-box aluminium sections. The twin-spar frame is aided by the
engine's low centre of gravity to create superbly balanced handling
at all speeds. A new aluminium subframe lowers the F6C's rear and
offers easy ground reach from the comfortable, carefully shaped
seat thus enhancing rider confidence at standstill.
The Honda Multi-Action System (HMAS) monoshock with manually
adjusted spring preload works through a Pro-Link on the
single-sided aluminium swingarm. Spring and damping rates front and
rear have been modified to suit the F6C's weight reduction and
urban cruiser intent.
The combination of stretched out steering geometry with wide,
rubber-mounted swept-back handlebars ensure excellent control with
improved rider feel through the chassis. To further improve
stability the front/rear weight bias has been adjusted to be more
even, while the engine support beam's rigidity balance has also
been slightly altered.
To give Honda's new power cruiser appropriate esteem, the engine
needed to provide a rush of acceleration at a split-second's notice
along with unforgettable drive from low rpm in top gear and
super-smooth throttle response everywhere in the rev-range. The F6C
utilises Honda's legendary 1,800cc, horizontally opposed SOHC,
two-valve, six-cylinder engine which is fed by PGM-FI controlled
fuel-injection with twin 40mm Keihin throttle bodies and an
F6C-specific 6.6-litre airbox and panel-type air filter.
During development, several exhaust systems were prototyped in
pursuit of a perfectly balanced exhaust note with dual personality;
a throaty growl at low-rpm and high-pitched crescendo at maximum
rpm.
A Dual Combined ABS braking system ensures the Goldwing F6C
provides rapid and secure stopping power on all road surfaces and
conditions.
Commanding respect on the road, the F6C presents incredible
visual appeal. With flowing lines and a burly form, this new
sibling to the Goldwing and Goldwing F6B has an un-cluttered custom
look with features such as LED lights and a stylish LCD dash
display.
Reminiscent of the original, naked 1975 Goldwing, Honda's new
Goldwing F6C will continue to set the benchmark for the breed when
it arrives in the second quarter of 2014. Available in Graphite
Black, more information regarding price and exact arrival dates
will follow.
